Film Synopsis: God Went Surfing with the Devil
The Middle East. A region seized by war, terror, and hatred. Israel and Gaza have seen some of the worst: fifty years of retaliatory strikes, with no end in sight. Yet despite the rubble, the sniper killings, the mortar fire, the jihadist propaganda, guys are surfing. "We go to the beach to forget about the suffering," says twenty-year-old Gaza resident Mohammed Juda.
God Went Surfing With the Devil will hear from Palestinians like Mohammed A'lwan about what it's like to surf in a war zone. It will explore 16 year-old Omer Levin's pursuit of sponsorship amidst the prospect of conscription. It will document life with Abdulla, an Arab-Israeli surfer who's been shunned by fellow Arabs and attacked by Jewish settlers. It will accompany American Matt Olsen's attempts to open Gaza's first surf camp. It will visit with surfers, soldiers, militants and politicians.

Today my subaru exploded. I got a cab ride from natural cafe to my home and had a very interesting travel home with Jerry my cabbie. Jerry is about 40, skinny as shit, studdered on his S's, and told me If how I wanted to, I could get money from the government to be a beach bum and eventually leave the country. Jerry is fucking cool. In a nutshell, 10 hits of acid and a few tests to determine your sanity are the only pre req's. Then you can get money from the Gov't by being declared legally insane. Jerry said he considred taking the sanity tests but he said he liked to work for his money and also get's bored easily. Jerry also told me he liked to "talk shit on people" while he was in his cab because they could not see or hear him, and it helped him "blow off sss"st, ssSSssS, SSSSteeaamm." I began a very weak argument with him over his method and it's diffrences to shame-ing. Anyways we got off that topic pretty quick and he started talking about laughlin Nevada and fat girls.

Fun surf this morning. Lots of ladybugs in the water with the help from the warm Santa Anas.
Scotty back in the water after some injuries. It was a slalom course out there. Scotty and his brother Turkey are Cycle Zombies.
Julio on some old waterlogged Harbour Nineteen. The thing was full of holes and covered in duct tape. The board is known as "The Whore." Everyone has had a ride.
Julio on a hot one.
Weekend warriors. I should have brought the kook killer. Maybe tomorrow.

My lady and I just Started reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas...We read out loud and i suggest you try reading this book or any book out loud it is very amusing that way...We are half way through it. After seeing the movie a handful of times i can say the book is truly better as it should be.

I saw this awhile back on Daily Bread.
His blog is one of the few that I actually check on a daily basis. Usually when I am at work, around lunch time. His posts usually make me regret not getting out of bed that morning to surf. If you read his blog, you know what I am talking about.

Burke-zerk
Here he is. Mr. Seal Beach himself. Mark Burke...going Burke-zerk as usual. Today he told me that the surf woke him up at 5am. He knew it was going to be good. If you think you have surfed good Seal. Think again. Burke was already on it before you got there...and it was better.

I apologize in advance. I have hid this for far too long, I can no longer go on with this charade...
I received a Surftech as a gift about 2 months ago. I know. Crucify me.
Anyways, it is a 6'9" Joel Tudor Diamond Tail Egg...And you know what...I really like the thing. So far I have ridden it in everything from 2 foot slop to overhead racetracks.
The thing floats and paddles as good as my 9'0" Daddy O from EC. It glides and turns super well too. It is much more responsive than its chunky outline and rails make it appear to be.
A big hangup for me is that I always wonder if the PU version works better. I am assuming it does. Hopefully I will be able to try one out one day.
Anyways, I have 12 boards in my quiver right now, and this is the only one that is a popout. But hey, Joel has a kid now and college is damn expensive(damn you student loans!!!) So I can understand going for the Surftech deal.

I know you are most likely familiar with this "Get In the Van"
But here is the Captain Fin Co. crew with a new film, aptly titled, "Get In the Van."
Surf and Destroy's buddy, Scotty Stopnik, is featured in the film. We hope to see Scotty back in the water sooner rather than later. Last time I was at EC's I saw a new creation in the works for Scotty and Turkey.
You can check out the Cycle Zombie blog to see what those two are up to.
