September 26, 2008
PRESS RELEASE

(Quiksilver, Torquay, Victoria) September 25, 2008 -- Quiksilver, the world's leading surfwear manufacturer is collaborating with Sydney-based designer Sam Elsom and his label elsom, creating a limited release collection of luxurious, hand-tailored garments for men.

The elsom collection will consist of suiting, a naval waterman coat, two dress shirts, an organic denim jean, an organic t-shirt, a belt and neck-tie.

This collaboration will be a first for Quiksilver and elsom.

Quiksilver will undertake the manufacturing of most of the collection; however the elsom Australian handcrafted suit and organic denim jean will be wholly produced by elsom's own tailors in a limited run of just 300. The elsom suit is expected to retail for roughly AU$1200. The entire elsom collection will be distributed for sale internationally via Quiksilver's retail outlets and be available as of March 2009.

An outstanding feature of the elsom garments will be the luxurious organic textiles used in their construction. Traditional and innovative materials are sourced by elsom from around the world; notably horsehair canvas from a company in Antwerp, Belgium and exclusive Italian milled textiles made from sustainable organic cotton traded fairly from developing nations including India and Pakistan.

Quiksilver's Men's Designer Ryan Scanlon: "We're really excited about this collaboration. Sam (Elsom) is renowned for the understated beauty and simplicity he brings to fashion and his dedication to sourcing the highest quality sustainable textiles is unwavering - and that is something that is very important to Quiksilver."

Sam Elsom: "To me, Quiksilver is a huge and successful company that has maintained its integrity with respect to the land, the ocean and giving back to the community. In the society in which we all now live, it's refreshing to see this."

Members of Quiksilver's global surf team are tipped to be among the first recipients of the hand-crafted suits with expectations of them being worn for the first time at the 2008/09 Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship crowning scheduled for February 2009 on Queensland's Gold Coast.

Man, what? Okay, okay, I see what they are trying to do. "No, donkeys, it's cool. Grab a foam board and head on down to Topanga. Everyone is real friendly. It's totally an aloha vibe. Be yourself, and don't forget to wear all of our expensive gear when you are shooting the curl!"

Puke.
