I watched this on demand today, and while I agree with Maher's s stance on religion, I thought his actions towards several of the people in the film were in very poor taste. An intellectual bully/jock if you will.
makes me want to never argue this shit with anyone who is not prostalatizing. In other words, let it fucking be. The average fucking joe is not going to extremist measures when excersising their beliefs so who really fucking cares. Im an atheist. tight. don't need to tattoo it on my neck or anything.
Side note. Kudos to Maher for shameing the 9/11 conspirators because they are no different from the
over zealous religious folk. NO FUCKING Empirical evidence. How many leftists look down on religious believers and believe that 9/11 was a grand conspiracy??? too many. aiight im buzzed, can't write, feel like a douche tool. SUHHHHH(say see ya real fast)
we is the people who enjoy a little shit talking... BULLY!!! for sure... but he is known for that mentality and it is expected. Pleasing film!
i just feel that in all his bullying/mocking of the other religions he fails to get the movie goer to side with him. whether you agree or disagree all you see is some guy joking around. he (bill mahr); while being given ample opportunity to really give and receive insight or enlightenment or prove that his side is the better side instead chooses to make a quick joke.
i know what bills deal is and that fine.
i just feel that this film could have been a great opportunity to present some really great ideas, make people a bit more understanding and tolerant of one another; showing and legitimizing a different viewpoint (atheism namely) . instead found a way to make the film about him and his intellectual superiority through the use of sarcasm and one liners.
i think Bill has short man's disease.
