I'm not an angry person...really. I just have an extremely low tolerance for stupid fucking bullshit. Is it just me, or is anyone else fed up with the longboard scene? Campell's movies have really caught on in the mainstream surf eye and while that's cool and everything, its also made it pretty damn stagnant. The great lenghts top log dudes are going through to achieve that "non-confomist" hipster, basquiat esque, art, punk, ect image becomes problematic when looks are based on ripping other people off, or simply being living breathing contradictions that frustrates us jealous types who don't get paid to surf.
EX. 1 can be seen in this image display of very unique products and logo. Keep in mind when i say unique I really mean total fucking rip off. We've got Anti-hero skateboards, and The Cramps getting straight jacked here. I don't even know what to say about that fin, except HOLY SHIT SOMEBODY CALL THE MOZ, cause you know he ain't backing that shit.
Next off is what could quite possibly be the stupidest fucking thing i've ever seen in print. Some magazine had this to say about one of the best longboarders in so cal -- But for now he's not going corprate, "Too many people turn cultures into markets" he says--
Keep in mind this guy gets paid to surf real well, but also gets paid to be the token hipster art guy of a surfbrand whose target demographics span all the way from Jock Gnar Bro UFC guys, to the mainstream alternative crowd, thus turning that "art culture" into a market to increase capital for that surfbrand.
As a 1 time US Open longboard winner, and friend of surf and destroy's once said, "It's not even fucking about how you surf anymore, it's about the clothes you wear". Word.
Surf, Do your thing, Get exploited by a company, Get paid, and be stoked on it. Everyone else would be.

That Smiths fin is complete garbage. That guy is better off staying at home and playing with his prick all day then making anything...or in this case ripping off anything.

haha. You think the longboard scene is loosing touch with everyone trying to be individual yet all the same. You should check out super surfboards on the shortboard scene. They want everyone to be EXACTLY the same. same shapes same graphics all like your favorite 8 year old pro.

I just saw an Anti Hero deck with the Eagle CJ ripped off and the black and yellow checkerboard that he ripped off from that too for his own deck with stolen Cramps artwork. Damn. What an ass.
