Lucifer Rising

Enjoy Kenneth Anger's 1972 short film, Lucifer Rising...

Guilty Pleasures

Fantasy Surfer. Yes, I am a borderline pro-ho.

The Quik Pro Gold Coast should start this weekend. Here is my lineup.

Kelly Slater
Mick Fanning
Dean Morrison
Tim Reyes
Josh Kerr
David Weare
Julian Wilson
Dane Reynolds

I got some time to tweak it, but I have to stay within my $50,000,000 salary cap. Slater and Dane are pretty much the core of my lineup. The rest change according to where the contest is, right or left, rippable, charging, injuries, etc.

This year I am trying to pay more attention to the heat draws for the first round. i should probably figure out how to work Taj into the lineup...

Anyways, team From Hell, is bringin' the pain!

2.25.2009

I wouldn't really give a fuck if you dig it...

Cuz it's not really my sorta jams...but at least I haven't had it plugged up my ass a thousand times on someone else's blog. (shakas and fuck your fin set up)

Damn Marc Johnson is a silly bitch. i got a kick out of this.

How to Defend Yourself from a Great White Shark

This is my girlfriend's first year as a teacher. She currently has a third grade classroom, needless to say, 3rd graders are pretty funny. This is Tommy's essay and illustration entitled "How to Defend Yourself from a Great White Shark."

It is pretty damn accurate. I would venture to guess that he paid attention during shark week.

My favorite line: "If the shark takes a big chunk of flesh out of you, then that is the time for you to panic and yell."

"Follow these steps and you will probably survive a shark attack."

Sorry if the scans are shitty and hard to read.

Back On Top

I don't know if it's just me but SNL has really been stepping it up this past year. SNL has been the turning point to stardom for many comedians that we have grown to love in our generation. People like Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler,David Spade, and Will Farrell have given us so much great material during and after their time on SNL. Ever since many of those names have left the show I really haven't been intrigued to pay attention to it anymore. But recently the show has been making its comeback for me. There are new names like Bill Hader, Seth Myers, Kristen Wiig, and Andy Samberg that are reflecting similar talents of the past SNL comical geniuses. I grew up staying up late watching SNL from a very young age and it has a special place in my heart. I know that sounds pretty gay but its true. Fucking "Waynes World" came out of SNL for Christ sake.

I'm getting carried away...

One of my favorite things they have going right now at SNL is their "Digital Shorts." These 3-4 min. videos are awesome. It is not just the concept that rules, it is also the production value. They are all shot in HD and the camera and stunt work is fucking amazing. Also the special effects going into these things have to be kind of expensive. These shorts are pretty spectacular and I am excited to see what they come up with in the future.

Here is a list of some that you must watch

"Natalie Raps"
"Jizz in my pants"
"I'm on a Boat"

and if you havent seen "Dick in a Box" a probably don't know you but watch it!!!

Here is one of my favs titled "Lettuce"

enjoy...

Yum!

Nathan Fletcher

I am a pretty big fan of the entire Fletcher clan. Here is a video of Nathan that was posted up on the erBB.

Blah, blah, blah. Say what you want about "style," "flow," whatever. He doesn't surf like the rest of the clones out there.

The last wave was just plain nasty. He is ejected out of that last barrel, look at the spray that comes off of his body as he hits the water....I can see why he snapped his femur at pipe.

I would liken it to watching a cave man surf. Big ass barrels. Stomping the fuck out of some airs. Man hacks. Wide ass stance. Neon boards. Astrodeck. Raw fuckin' power, man.

I dig.

Edit. I was gonna post the video but it doesn't fit on the page and it plays automatically every time the page is opened. Check the link.

Here is his interview with Stab.

"How was Bali?
Insane, till I got home. I’m still shitting yellow."

Hot Dogs For Dinner, Cigarettes For Breakfast

Loaded up the car and headed down south for a bit of camping and surfing with some buds yesterday...Got a few waves before sundown then again in the am
Plenty of Minutemen jams around the fire as well

Waves weren't spectacular but it was super fun, not a bad way to spend a couple a days
You been surfing?
Only when it's necessary.

Christian Fletcher Hates Surfers

The last issue of Thrasher had a retrospective of the June 1995 issue. I noticed that the very bottom of the cover had "Christian Fletcher Hates Surfers" as one of the cover stories.

I checked ebay, Thrasher, the interweb, etc. to find the article/magazine. No dice.

I ended up emailing the guy who does the blog, Police Informer, left a comment asking if he had the issue and if he could post up the article on the blog. He emailed me back with the scan, psyched. Here it is. Thanks Police Informer!

He's mental. In the second sequence, he is punting an air over some fool on the shoulder.

"Study the sharks and don't hold back."

"He ripped her face off."

So apparently chimpanzees don't like being dressed up or being force fed wine and xany's.
Did you see how he went after the cop in his car after he ripped the lady's face off??? fuck I wish we could have gotten him a svrf and destroy shirt.

RIP travis the chimp.

Come Armageddon, Come Armageddon...

I’m sure most of you will agree with me when I say that the news has done very little for me in recent weeks other than give me a headache accompanied by a hint of nausea. It’s been a while since I had any real faith in our government or the Man Upstairs. My faith in humanity has served as the foundation for my belief that the world isn’t going to total shit. As of late even that is slipping, because when I turn on the ol’ tube I see idiots getting attacked by chimpanzees, mothers with no money having 8 children, as well as full-scale riots at high school basketball games. It also doesn’t help that when I go to class I hear kids talking about the “civil unrest” that is on its way and how they “can’t wait to loot”. If it does resort to that (which it won’t) and your biggest concern is scoring a big screen you’re probably an asshole and I hope you drop it on your foot. So where am I going? There is a lovely little number by the band The Hope Conspiracy that I feel addresses the situation spot on and I figured I would share it with yall!

(@ The Che Cafe in San Diego, 1/7/07)

And so they feed
All the pigs in a row
Row after row
They stick their noses deep
Deep in the shit
The shit they are thrown
Guilty, they're all guilty
Guilty fucking pigs

The past never dies
And history never lies
Or so I've been told
My faith in man has broken
My faith in god was stolen
I see this world's illusions
Through bitter eyes

They feed like pigs
On greed and lies
Noses pressed
In the shit

Guilty, we're all guilty
Guilty fucking pigs.

Yeah I know, "Gettin' all heavy on the blogger." Don't care, bite me.

Jocks Surf Too

One time, Douche and I were surfing the pier. Summer time, we were going to be freshman or sophomores in high school. Uncrowded peelers. Lo and behold, the entire squadron of Jr. Lifeguards paddle out on soft tops. Douche and I were doing our best to burn, run over, and ruin as many of their days as possible.

Some kid burns Douche, he catches up to him, gives him a solid chest shove off his board. Once off his board, Douche shoves the kids board into the next wave, sending it in and tells the kid, "Beat it."

The kid says, "Hey! I surf too!"

Apparently emos, jocks, jr. lifeguards, and a whole slew of people surf. Linebackers included.

Does it make you lame if your trunks are tight because your tree trunk thighs won't fit in them? Who am I to judge?

I'm not really sure where this post is going, but I will tell you that I am currently listening to "Briefcase Full of Guts" by Dethklok on the Dethalbum.

White Death

I don't know about you guys but I fucking love Jaws. It's a damn good flick and it scared the piss out of me when I was little. If you are a bit nerdy at times, like myself, you are going to be stoked on this new documentary: The Shark Is Still Working. Actually I don't know how new it is, I heard Kevin Smith talking about it quite a while ago but since forgot about it until I stumbled upon this trailer a few minutes ago.

It features interviews with cast and crew as well as Peter Benchley, author of the original Jaws book. Should be radical. And if you could care less about this documentary then here is some Jaws related garb everyone can enjoy...

Belated B-Day

You know when you forget a friend's birthday and you feel like an asshole? This is kinda like that.

Happy belated 48th birthday Henry. (It was the 13th.)

Spring wind is approaching

I'm generally not interested in doing any activity that involves more than a board and wetsuit. I'm lazy as fuck man. Minimum effort with maximum results has always been my trusted philosophy.

The idea of kite boarding naturally has never really been appealing. It's like...fucking rope tanglie's, and strappy's, and wind? NO WAY!

That was until I found this video of our buddy dodger shredding at yet another activity - strapless kitesurfing. Some Christian Fletcher astrodeck for the front foot and he's good to go, getting the most out of a day where I'm sure most of us wouldn't even want to get wet. The clips at the end are nuts.

Sidebar

You may have noticed out little sidebar photo thingy. Kyle and I have been meeting a lot of interweb friends lately and it seems that not many people get that there are 7 of us...

Yes, SEVEN, people who post on this blog. Some more than others, that doesn't make them any less of a fiend club member.

Are you really bored?

watch this

EC

He's the one in the green Chucks.

I picked up my new 9'3" Pistolero diamondtail from Eric this weekend. I ordered it sand finish (clear), single fin box, no leash plug, no deck or tail patch. Bare bones. It is light and slashy. I rode it Sunday with Douche and Eagles. It was bitchin'. Uncrowded, waist to chest high, slight texture, mushy...perfect test run. I should have photos of it soon.

While I was at EC's I met his buddy Randy Noborikawa. I had seen Randy's work before on some EC art sleds and his interview in Blisss. Way rad dude. Douche and I are going to a Laker game with EC and Randy in March. Should be rad. EC loves the Lakers. Not as much as bikes though. Him and Randy were talking about changing out some bolts on Randy's bike to shave off a few grams. Mental.

Randy drew up some new logos and stuff, the details of which I will not divulge...shirts are in the works.

Anyways, EC has a fresh batch on their way to Japan, I asked him to send me over some shots so I can share 'em.

9'8" Super Sled squaretail

9'4" Pistolero diamond tail

9'3" Mod Sled

Chick Sleds 2 9'1"s and a 9'3"

Here is the description EC gave me of the boards via email. Man of few words:

"the sizes? i've got no clue- 9'1" to 9'8"
that requires memory. let's see...
the blk/wht supersled is 9'8" 22 3/4" 3"
polka boards were chick boards 9'1"s 22 1/4 x 2 3/4 i think the white one was a 9'3"22 1/4x2 3/4
bow ties were 9'3" and 9'4" both 22 3/4" x 2 7/8
rockers are identical pretty much to the mod as well as
bottom contours. tried and true modest blended entry concave to flat roll
just behind it to a rolled vee on out the back. mostly just a variance in outline. the pistolero's
got a 1" wider tail and more of a speed shape nose. so ride quality will
mostly differ to how the board pivots in the water."

That's it for now, I just cracked a 22oz. bomber of bottle refermented Russian River Damnation Golden Ale...

rail use

So I was lurkin' on Ryan's facebook profile. I stumbled upon this little gem. Putting some shit on rail. As soon as I get some cheddar together (buy my 5'9" MSF) I am gonna order a hull from him.

I think Douche and I are going to gnarbra next weekend. Beers, muncheez deliveries, check Ryan's set up, slashin, the usual.

My new 9'3" Modad...er...Pistolero will be slashed for the first time tomorrow.

no mercy. wake the dead. I've been listening to some S.T. lately.

Sabertooth Zombie

Here is a video of Sabertooth Zombie from their show @ The Pharaoh's Den in Riverside last week. The show was awesome, we stood outside in the rain for a while to get in (unfortunately alot of kids weren't able to get in because the place is so small) before packing into a room that was easily a cool 90 degrees and the size of my garage...alright maybe not that small, but it was definitely not meant to hold that number of kids(dirty smelly kids). I've never seen so much blood and silly string at a show before.

There has been so much good shit coming out of the Bay Area these past few years, STZ is just one of them. While you are at it do yourself a favor and listen to the new Pvrple Mercy track, Holy Vultures it's heavy as hell and meant to be played very, very loud. They played at The Den as well and I can't wait for em to come back.

keep on rockin' in the free world...man

People in college are sooo stupid

This video is so classic, Rage Against The Machine playing at Cal State Fullerton back in 1992 . . . no one is within 100 yards of the band except the occasional student on bike or roller blade cluelessly passing by . . . Fuck you I wont do what ya tell me, mother fucker

30 days to death

So this dude started a live journal to document the last 30 days of his life (before he offs himself) He's on day 18 right now . . . I really hope this is not a joke and the dude slays himself live on his website.

The Phelper

Bad Shit guitarist Jake Phelps has been offering up some fresh inspiration as of late.

"I’m just sayin’, if I ran a pizza shop, they wouldn’t be my favorite customers. Just like you, some people goon it and that’s it—they’re cut. I don’t care who you say you know. A kook is a kook, understand?"

Busy Weekend

After far too much of this...

It ended up looking like this, with a high probability of atomic diarrhea...

At least I got to hang out with Kyle and Ryan.

Kyle took some mug shots of the crew and Bearface, during a break in their marathon recording session. They should have some tunes up on their grindspace shortly.

Later we went to the Gato Heroi hep fest. Which was pretty cool, a shit load of people. We met up with Worm. Said hullo to RT. Was introduced to Kyle and Gilda. Shot the shit with Manny. Said hi to Punker Pat. All while enjoying the sights, sounds, and free beer at the show.

The next morning we woke up. Checked the svrf. Took a gander at Jared Mell's weighted Stretch wrongboard, who is back from a recent trip to Taiwan.

We bumped into Kaser1, who peeped the Gratefhull Dead Sled.

Said "What up." to the bird lady.

Next, we had breakfast with Dave Allee from Almond surfboards and checked out his cordless board and shop. The place looked sick. Kyle took a dump there. He said it was some sort of baptismal ritual for the new shop.

Lastly, we went to Shelter to show Graham the Dead Sled and talk Hulls, fins, and interweb.

Fuck this blog post. It took way to long to get all the photos and links in there.

The Daley double

My old pal daley has two new-ish blog posts entitled "My old roommate JT Spreer in a porno" and "E-mail to Bill Simmons/My Own Personal Low". I would recommend having a read and a laugh. Although he posts infrequently, Dale’s posts are always gold.

The dig on these photos = another afternoon in isla vista (full force puke with hand drawn finger moustache) and ransom photo taken after he stole his ex girlfriends beloved child hood stuffed animal.

EC

I was takin' a gander at Yo's blog, OC and I came across some new stuff from EC.

It looks like he has taken his bat-tail Frodo template, a personal favorite of my brother and I, and put a new tail on it. A sort of bat-tail diamond tail blend.

Last time a saw EC I was asking him about a diamond tail on this board, I guess this is his response...

Rest In Peace Lux Interior

February 4, 2009

Lux Interior, lead singer of The Cramps, passed away this morning due to an existing heart condition at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, California at 4:30 AM PST today. Lux has been an inspiration and influence to millions of artists and fans around the world. He and wife Poison Ivy’s contributions with The Cramps have had an immeasurable impact on modern music.

The Cramps emerged from the original New York punk scene of CBGB and Max’s Kansas City, with a singular sound and iconography. Their distinct take on rockabilly and surf along with their midnight movie imagery reminded us all just how exciting, dangerous, vital and sexy rock and roll should be and has spawned entire subcultures. Lux was a fearless frontman who transformed every stage he stepped on into a place of passion, abandon, and true freedom. He is a rare icon who will be missed dearly.

Ride a hull and Join a subculture!!!

I loved this article... until I tried to read it. What the fuck is with everyone and this horribly oblique but clearly contrived writing style that does nothing but stink of smugness and Thomas Campbell imitation? I'm surprised it wasn't suggested that we go find a nasal passage to slide with our piggys over, or something like that, which would apply to riding a hull. Thomas talks funny. YOU DON"T HAVE TO.

Is writing about possums and crossing out half the article really that ironic? Nice touch from the author blacking out his/her own name as well (I wouldn't claim it either)

Ok OK I get it. You’re weird and highly eccentric like Greenough. Mission Accomplished. Now kindly fuck off.

Kindred Destroyers

Clearly prefaced - No member of Svrf and Destroy had anything to do with this wax zinger (except me taking the picture)

I've drove past this a bunch of times now, but today I had to stop and snap this. What's that old rule...something like "Slander is spoken, while libel is written"??? Does that apply to wax bashing?

my stomach feels like poop from the strict hot dog and beer diet it was on this weekend, this video kind of made it feel better

Gnardiff

Camped at Gnardiff this weekend with a few friends. Drank all night, surfed and drank all day.

Brought my 10'6" and slid a shit load of peelers. I couldn't have brought a better board. Glassy, small, peeling...
